What is a Direct Repair Shop (DRP)?

A direct repair shop has a relationship with an insurance company to repair vehicles to the insurance company’s criteria, and that criteria is not always what is in the best interest of the vehicle owner. Choose a shop that is more interested in servicing you instead of the insurance company. Beware of any insurance company trying to steer or direct you to “their” shop. Beware of canned phrases from insurance company representatives such as “They are not on our list”, “we can’t guarantee their work”, “they take to long”, “you will have to pay the difference”, plus many more phrases and tactics they use to “steer” you to “their” shop. You will never see an insurance company repair anything at their office under their “guarantee”, they will send you back to “their” shop that made the poor repair in the first place. People generally do not have enough claims in their lifetime to know how to deal with these types of insurance companies, so let us do it for you.

With your experience in repairing vehicles, who are the better insurance companies to deal with?

We get asked this question frequently. We have found that the companies that you do not see advertised all of the time are the best ones to have insure your vehicle and valuable belongings. Some of the better ones are AAA Auto, Erie Insurance Group, Cincinnati Insurance, Chubb Insurance, Penn National, Universal Underwriters, Westfield, USAA, and Zurich. There are many more, but these seem to stand above the rest in the spirit of repairing vehicles properly and they have integrity with their business practices.

What are my options if an insurance company tries to direct me to one of "their" shops?

Tell them no thanks, that you prefer to deal with someone you trust and know will do the repairs correctly the first time. Most of our clients arrive here by way of referrals from satisfied customers.
